Changing Artisans Lives
"Your purchase of Sanyork Fair Trade products doesn’t only support the Peruvian artisan and helps keep alive the tradition of Andean crafts techniques. It also helps youth and families of Cuzco, Puno, Cajamarca, Huancavelica, Junin, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Ica and Lima achieve self-sufficiency and employment sustainability." Promperu, 2021
The mission of Sanyork Fair Trade came with a dream…a dream to help young artisans thrive working on their craft, youth from Cuzco, Cajamarca, Junin, Ayacucho, Huancavelica and many other provinces deep in the Andes of Peru. Employing and assisting potters, painters, weavers, kniters, leather crafters and gourd carvers not just survive, but thrive. We connected with artisan guilds and artisan communities and started our work over 20 years ago solidifying our partnerships over time. Through these partnerships, we support missions, which involve assisting youth and families and their communities to access resources that help them reach their goals of sustainability.
Our mission has always been to help people help themselves, always respecting their own traditions and culture as well as listening to their particular needs and self defined vision of a brighter future and new opportunities. Since 1999 we've been based in San Juan de Lurigancho, a blue collar suburb of Lima with over 1.4 million inhabitants and where many artisans live. Our organization does not seek donations or government and non-government funding, we believe that we are self sustainable and self governing and generate our own profits from our loyal customers. Over time we have grown fron a few dozen repeat customers to over 1000 loyal clients that constantly support our mission. A percentage of your purchase helps Sanyork Fair Trade provide funds that support artisan education and training, artisan loan funding and improving workplace environment.
