The friendly and popular Sinclair Dinosaur has charmed generations of Americans and become an iconic figure in vintage advertising. It was created by Sinclair Oil in the 1930s as a marketing tool.

The Sinclair dinosaur was born from a unique marketing strategy in the 1930s, Sinclair Oil used the Sinclair Dinosaur to represent the age and endurance of fossil fuels. Dino became more than a corporate symbol, he was depicted as a friendly and approachable cartoon character in Sinclair’s advertising campaigns, especially popular with families and children.

As Sinclair’s brand recognition grew, Dino’s popularity did too. In the 1964 World’s Fair in New York, Sinclair brought Dino to life with life-sized dinosaur sculptures, including the Brontosaurus, which delighted millions of fairgoers and cemented Dino’s status as a cultural icon. That’s why today, in San York we celebrate it by having also a Sinclair Dinosaur.

With Dino’s fame at an all-time high, Sinclair stations began installing Sinclair dinosaur sculptures to attract customers, making it easy to spot Sinclair locations from a distance. These statues, crafted in various sizes, became instantly recognizable symbols on American roadsides, evoking curiosity and nostalgia.

Today, original Sinclair dinosaur sculptures are highly sought after by collectors and Americana enthusiasts.
